The Holidays Are Really Here. Celebrate!

By Erica and Karen

Are you all ready to exchange gifts? We can’t say we are completely there, but we look so forward to having family nearby and waking up on a cold morning to the peace and quiet of a holiday weekend.

We will of course plan a feast—even for a small gathering—but we also want to go see the sights. Trees covered in lights, and some perhaps in snow, too. People walking briskly in warm coats and colorful hats and scarves and gloves. Some with dogs, some of those dogs also well dressed, including booties. The eyes of young children full of anticipation.

Some of our friends are not so happy. It has been a hard year. We will visit, bearing gifts. Some of the people on the street are not so happy either. We help as best we can.

It is, we suppose, a thoroughly human instinct to celebrate at the end of the year, and to clothe that celebration in ceremony. We like that. Especially when the ceremony involves dining with those we love. And sparkly lights on trees.

We hope your holidays are wonderful.
