Protect Our Children. And Their Teachers.

By Karen and Erica

We wake many mornings to the news that a mass shooting has taken place. Then we hear of brave police or other individuals who confronted the shooter and ended the active event.

Last week, in Maine, ten schools received a warning that a shooter was active in their schools. Young teachers knew what to do. They bravely took their even younger students into terrifying lockdown. Local hospitals prepared for a mass casualty.

The calls were a hoax. Unlike other terrible events in recent days, no-one was shot. Police bravely did their jobs, and once it was clear this alarm was false, everyone stood down.

This is a crazy way for all of us to live. It a crazy way to expect teachers to live and their students to grow up. We need a solution.
