Summer Isn't Over! A Dozen Fun Summer Reads.

By Erica and Karen

Summer is a time to indulge our passion for reading in a different way. More pleasure, less information. More good story than finely tuned sentences. Less slow savoring, more whipping through. Some we even pick up twice, forgetting until we are in a chapter or two that we already read it.

We read a few serious ones too, but these are some favorites to read just for fun as you revel in the last several weeks before Labor Day.

The Huntress by Kate Quinn. An English journalist and a female bomber pilot join forces to hunt down a Nazi war criminal.

We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter. A Jewish family in Nazi Germany.

The New Girl. Another Daniel Silva Gabriel Allon story, this one based on the Kashoggi assassination.

The Button Man by Andrew. A story about the garment industry and the Jewish mob that took over the unions and tried to destroy.

The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff. An audacious female spy ring in WWII,

Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner. We love her writing, and this story about two sisters and how they navigate their world to find their places.

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine. A thriller written by two sisters about a woman tired of being invisible and what she does about it.

The Last Book Party by Karen Dukess. Set in the late 80’s, the story of a young woman trying to make her way in the Cape Cod literary scene.

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The story of a 1970’s band, their lead singer and how they rose and fell. Fun and very clever.

The Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton. A generational tale tied to Cuba, its history and secrets.

The Guest Book by Sarah Blake. The story of a powerful American family beginning in the 1930’s, grappling with its history and its place in the world today.

City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert. Independent women, female friendships, sex and New York City in all its glory…it’s all there.
