Six Cool Expeditions In NYC.

By Karen and Erica

New York City is blooming and bustling. Here are some of the newest things to see and do, and places to wander, in sunshine and moonlight.

Hudson Yards. Check out the Spanish food court. See B8TA to try some interesting very new tech products. Peek into Neiman Marcus and definitely linger in Forty Five Ten, a very fashion forward set of boutiques. Climb The Vessel, and take sunglasses to look at the shiny copper structure. Go see a show at The Shed. Or just look at the Shed, which is amazing. And walk around the corner to see the newest part of the High Line—the Spur. The design is truly glorious.

Cornell Tech. The new campus on Roosevelt Island is only a tram ride away. Bloomberg at his best. Some of the buildings are absolutely spectacular. Skidmore Owings & Merrill drew up the master plan. And walk down the path and visit FDR at the gorgeous Four Freedoms Park.

Au Cheval. A very newly opened Tribeca outpost of a Chicago restaurant of the same name. Hard to find and so very cool. Famous for burgers. Go off hours to avoid the crowds. And while you are in the neighborhood, go. to the world’s smallest museum.

L’Avenue at Saks. Still hard to get in, but we discovered that if you get there early there are plenty of seats. Upstairs is light and airy, downstairs like an English library. Both have lovely cocktails and waitstaff. If you stay long enough, you can see the (extremely) beautiful people. So dress up!

The Met Roof Garden. An installation that evokes the solar system. Great views. Light food and drink. On a sunny day you will feel like you actually live in one of those fabulous apartments across Fifth Avenue.

The Brooklyn Bridge. Walk to Brooklyn and decide who is winning the pizza war. If you’re not in the mood for drama, have lunch outside at The Osprey at the newish One Hotel—you will think you are in the middle of Central Park—or at the spanking new Time Out Market in Dumbo. Take in the amazingly beautiful walks and views along the Brooklyn waterfront. And if you are in the mood for drama, just not the pizza kind, see something at St. Ann’s Warehouse. Some of the best theater the city has to offer. Whatever you do, take a water taxi back.
